Finding a funder is the easy part. The hard part is working out which of their programmes you're actually eligible for — and whether they're even open right now. This guide explains what the Severn Trent Community Fund Core Funding programme funds, who qualifies, and its current status, so you don't waste a week on an application that was never a fit.
Severn Trent Community Fund — Core Funding (currently closed)
- Severn Trent Community Fund — Core Funding
Restricted core-funding grants of £5,000 to £20,000 for one year of essential running costs (management/admin, rent/utilities, accountancy/audit, fundraising, comms, governance), for not-for-profit organisations in the Severn Trent catchment region (West + East Midlands, incl. Wolverhampton — postcode/map check required; individuals not eligible; faith orgs eligible for community work only). Priority order: emergency relief such as foodbanks, then health/medical support, housing/homelessness, vulnerable populations, and employment/income assistance. The fund runs two one-month windows a year: the June 2026 window opened 1 June and closed 30 June 2026 (23:59), with circa 25 awards expected from that round; the next window opens November 2026. As of 1 July 2026 the fund is closed for new applications — check the funder's page for the November window's exact open date. (Separate New Project Funding, £2,000–£50,000, is reported open year-round on a 6-monthly panel but was not independently verified on the funder's own page this run.)

Before you apply to Severn Trent Community Fund
- Check the eligibility basics first: where you work, the type of organisation you are, who you help, and the realistic size of grant you can deliver.
- Look at who Severn Trent Community Fund has funded recently. Recent grants are the best signal of whether your work fits their priorities.
- Don't rely on one funder. The charities that win consistently keep a live shortlist of several well-matched opportunities, not a single bet.
