Finding a funder is the easy part. The hard part is working out which of their programmes you're actually eligible for — and not wasting a week on an application that was never a fit. This guide lists Severn Trent Community Fund's currently open programme so you can check the basics before you commit.
Open Severn Trent Community Fund programme right now
- Core Funding
For not-for-profit organisations within the Severn Trent catchment region. A restricted grant of £5,000–£20,000 towards one year of core running costs — management and administration, general office costs (rent and utilities), accountancy and audit, fundraising, communications, and governance/compliance. The June 2026 window is open now and closes Tuesday 30 June 2026 at 23:59 (outcomes in August; a second window runs in November 2026). Around 55 organisations are supported across the year. Priority goes to groups delivering emergency relief (such as foodbanks), then health and medical support, housing and homelessness services, support for vulnerable people, and employment or income assistance. Open to not-for-profits with an asset-locked legal structure; individuals are not eligible, and you cannot apply if you are already in a current Severn Trent core-funding grant period. Apply through the funder's Core Funding portal.
The programme links to Severn Trent Community Fund's official page. Always confirm eligibility, amounts and deadlines there before applying — funders update their pages, and an open window does not mean funding is guaranteed.
Before you apply to Severn Trent Community Fund
- Check the eligibility basics first: that you are within the Severn Trent catchment region (use the funder's supply-area or postcode checker), the type of organisation you are, who you help, and the realistic size of grant you can deliver.
- Look at who Severn Trent Community Fund has funded recently — recent grants are the best signal of whether your work fits their priorities.
- Don't rely on one funder. The charities that win consistently keep a live shortlist of several well-matched opportunities, not a single bet.
