What Fundermatcher is
Fundermatcher is a self-serve AI grant-matching and drafting tool for UK charities, built explicitly for one-person fundraising teams, the same buyer we build for. It's operated by "Gradingly", with funder data "powered by Prefetch". On its own site it matches you against 3,500+ UK funders, scored across six dimensions (cause, geography, organisation size, legal entity type, grant range and theme), with a per-funder score breakdown and a project-specific search. There's a free-forever tier showing your top-four matches with fit scores, no card. Paid is a £29 one-off report, or Pro at £19/month billed annually (£29 monthly).
Fundermatcher ships more application-help product than GrantNest does today. Its co-pilot drafts to a funder's exact word limits from your charity profile and the funder's priorities, runs an 8-point quality check, keeps an evidence bank, takes document uploads, and manages a kanban application pipeline. If a first draft written for you is what you're buying, that is more built-out than what we ship right now, and we'd be lying to tell you otherwise.
Where GrantNest is different
Fundermatcher matches grants and funders. It doesn't, on its own site today, match UK public-sector tenders or contracts. GrantNest pulls open tenders from Find a Tender and matches them to your charity's profile in the same feed as your grants, so if you deliver (or could deliver) public services as well as grant-funded work, you're not watching a procurement portal separately. To be straight: our tender matching is in beta while we tighten precision, and we draw from Find a Tender, not every UK procurement portal. But it's a job Fundermatcher doesn't do at all.
Fundermatcher describes its funder data as "researched and verified," which is a fair claim about the database. What we do is narrower and, we think, more useful when you're about to spend an afternoon on a bid: for each open call we show you, we check the funder's own page that the round is currently open and stamp it with the date we checked. Nothing on Fundermatcher's site indicates a per-call open-status check like that.
Fundermatcher scores legal-entity type as one of its six dimensions and shows eligibility criteria per funder, which is genuinely useful. But scoring lowers or raises a percentage; it doesn't necessarily stop a match you can't win from reaching you. GrantNest treats disqualifiers as hard gates: if your charity fails a funder's binding rule (income cap, entity type, region, blackout period) it's screened out and flagged, with the reasoning shown and sourced. For candour: whether Fundermatcher applies hard gates or only lowers the percentage is something we couldn't confirm from its site, so we're describing our own approach, not asserting they lack one.
GrantNest's application help today is a checklist plus an editable opening for each opportunity: a running start, not a machine-written bid to a word limit.
